Embassy and Diplomatic Protection in Brussels

Official vehicle escort for a diplomatic delegation in Brussels

1-Protection provides close protection and guarding services to embassies, consulates, permanent representations and international organisations based in Brussels. We are authorised by the Belgian Federal Public Service Home Affairs and work under strict confidentiality.

What we provide

  • Protection of diplomatic staff — accompaniment of ambassadors, chargés d’affaires and their families during official and private movements.
  • Access control at the residence or chancery — screening of visitors, deliveries and contractors, with written reporting.
  • Secure transport — trained security drivers, route planning and advance reconnaissance. See armoured vehicles and security drivers.
  • Event cover — national day receptions, official visits and delegations.
  • Threat assessment — analysis of the exposure of a site, a person or a delegation, and a written protection plan.

Working with diplomatic missions

Assignments for diplomatic clients require predictable procedures, clear reporting lines and officers who are comfortable in a protocol environment. Our officers work in civilian dress unless a visible presence is requested, and are briefed on the specific sensitivities of each mission.

Armed protection

Armed close protection is possible where a specific, identified risk exists and the required authorisations are in place. Each situation is assessed individually and must be authorised by the competent Belgian authorities. Our authorisations and insurance are published and verifiable.

Coordination

We coordinate with the mission’s own security officer and, where relevant, with the Belgian authorities responsible for the protection of diplomatic premises. Arrangements can be permanent, periodic or limited to a single visit.

Frequently asked questions

Do you already work with diplomatic missions in Brussels?

Yes. For obvious reasons we do not name them, and we would not name you either.

Can you provide armed protection for diplomatic staff?

Where a specific and identified risk exists and the required Belgian authorisations are in place. Each situation is assessed and must be authorised by the competent authorities.

Do you coordinate with the Belgian authorities?

Where relevant, yes — alongside the mission’s own security officer, and within the responsibilities each party holds for the protection of diplomatic premises.

Can you cover a single official visit rather than a permanent arrangement?

Yes. A large share of our diplomatic work is exactly that: a delegation, a national day reception, or a ministerial visit lasting a few days.

What languages do your officers speak?

French, Dutch and English, which covers most requirements in Brussels. Other languages can be arranged with notice.

Tell us about your situation. We reply quickly and in complete confidence.
